The personification of a tiny smallest moth (Kleinste Motte) was created for this blog as the thread that weaves events together. I love to read, write and dream about a world that is a better place for all.

Nuts
When I read a recent post about recycling containers I was amused to learn that a container for some peanuts came from a tennis ball purchase. It had me wondering what I'd done to recycle. As I glanced over to the kitchen table, next to the violet, I saw this (see photo). Quickly I got out the camera and took this shot. Why? What are the odds? NUTS and they are also in a recycled container, a used gift box!
We like to eat nuts as a snack but if they're tucked away in a cupboard they seem to be overlooked. Leaving them out makes them very handy. This little round box is just perfect. It holds the nutcracker too. My favourite nut is the hazelnut Kleinste Motte.

AH! SO now we know where the name of your blog comes from!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture, by the way!
Ha ha ha! Thanks Betty.
ReplyDeleteYou picture looks so appetizing that I wanted to taste one...or ten. I then realize that I haven't had shelled nuts in ages. Guess what I am getting this weekend?
ReplyDeleteI want some nuts, too! I am getting some the next time I go shopping. I love hazelnuts, but I believe almonds are my favorite. Eat a extra one for me...haa. Gerry
ReplyDeleteHi There, I saw that other post about storing nuts in a tennis ball container... That was Sandra's blog...
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are just as creative as she is... Love the perfect little container for your nuts and the nutcracker. My parents used to have a nut dish out every year at Christmas. My favorites were walnuts....
Have a great day.
Hugs,
Betsy
Betsey, my family always had nuts out for Christmas too, and I always keep up the tradition.
ReplyDeleteHave to admit, I feed the hazelnuts to the squirrels. They are just the perfect size.
Do you ever wonder who walked by and saw the first nut and thought hmmmmmm.... let me crack that open to see what's inside?
I have thought the same thing about a kiwi. Seriously, who would have ever thought such a beautiful green fruit was inside.
Guess that's like some of us. Fuzzy on the outside, so and pretty on the inside.
Heidi, sometimes I feel like a nut too!
hi from the crazy tennis ball recycle lady. love your container and the fact you receycled. that is a nice looking nut cracker you have. mine is the old one that is hard to use and hurts my hand. at Christmas time I usually buy hickory nuts and keep out to be cracked. i love all kinds of nuts, people and the kind we eat. ha ha
ReplyDeleteSandra this nut thing is getting nuttier, Read today's post and see why.
ReplyDeleteWe refer to hazelnut as "filberts" down here. Not sure why the name stuck.
ReplyDeleteI think I like almonds the most but there are others that I like almost as much.
ReplyDeleteI used to have an old Army Master Sergeant retired who sent us a container of pecans in the shells and one year they were already shelled. So I love pecans. He had a pecan orchard.
