Really Part Two

Today is the last day of 2020. Six more months of huge Covid losses and many lockdowns, job losses and travel reduced by 90%.

And a newer variant of the virus that is more easily spread has emerged causing further alarm. Children are loosing their chance to play freely with friends as they must try to live in their bubble of safe people and even wear masks in indoor places. Schools have had a lot of Covid cases so Zoom classes are very common now. But more children are facing homeless futures as their care givers loose jobs and businesses and as they face living on no income sets in.Famished people by the millions sends tears to my eyes in helplessness because not enough assistance has been made available fast enough! It is catastrophic.

There are now vaccines rolling out but not soon enough to bring back lost jobs. In fact just getting millions vaccinated globally will take more than 9 months.

Those bankrupt and those homeless need a huge boost financially but will wealthy share to enable that to come about?

The UK free of EU has made trade deals but Covid has taken down many businesses and it seems their hope for a new way forward will be hampered another few years as recovery will be dragging on.

US A has Biden as their new President for 2021 but he too has the Covid nightmare to contend with. And he hopes to bring a divided people back to one America. Historically the US has never been united. Two parties make that a dream rather than a reality.Their way to elect a new leader starts almost the moment a president is put into place and that dragged out system they call a democratic process is nothing short of a power struggle controlled by the most wealthy. Billions are spent on endless years of campaigning. Money would be better spent on creating a most highly educated population and a nation that spreads out wealth. Sadly many see that as too socialistic. It is not the American way though there are exception.

Tonight we move into 2021. As we do there is hope that Tokyo Olympics will happen In July and many other events are to reopen for those who are vaccinated. Can the globe get ready by July?

Really?

Many of you follow my two blogs. I thank you for your loyalty. I wish you all good health and a better New Year.

Really

June has arrived and we have had months of a lifestyle that before now would be deemed fiction .
Covid 19 virus hit right at start of 2020.
Everything as we knew it one year changed In the next. A new decade.
UK left EU on March 31. But much has yet to be sorted and during new times of Covid .
Lockdowns to prevent illness shut down all global travel and each country set up ways to make work and schools happen virtually as many die from the virus. Lockdowns keep us at home. All is closed except ways to buy food and medications using rules to protect all.
Then the a ruthless murder of a black person by police in the US set protests for black lives matter in motion and they spread globally by the hour. As of today more murders continue. Protests grow more and some violence pours out as frustration mounts and some get rough.
The Virus is on going and global  travel is still impossible. Much changes in all ways of life and making a living. Tourism is struck hard as is all transportation. Entertainment  and hospitality jobs are cut as gatherings are forbidden. Sports are halted. Even July 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games!
Sadly as many jobs are lost, wages are gone and unpaid rent leads to homelessness and shop closures. And that continues to grow in numbers.
It continues on and on.
2020 is really becoming a historical year for all. It is a hardship for all.
I am struggling to cope.as my weird brain tends to see ahead and I am not visualizing all returning to the way things were in 2019.
I am seeing all diving down to a DARK place I once knew after 1945. Hardship and pain from many losses will be HUGE!
I am so sad. The future looks grim for 2021 and later.
Why now ?
Was it preventable?
Who really knows?
Really?

FEED

My last two posts are not appearing in the reading list feed and I have no clue why. One even disappeared after being in the feed and getting 11 comments. Strange. I checked all possible settings for a clue. Nada!

A New UK EU Era

Last night I watched some people in UK celebrate the exit from EU like a New Years Eve event in some cases. In other areas it was really negative as the people had wanted to remain in EU.
Democracy while it allows some degree of say over events it also means that the minority group, the defeated, now have to be brave and deal with their disappointment.
For the next eleven months most people will see minor changes as UK and EU now try to figure out dealing with borders for both travel and trade. The Eurostar train travel once linked two EU nations but as of midnight that is no longer so. Those in EU travel seamlessly from one EU nation to another. Now UK will perhaps no longer have it so Easy.?
It is hard to envision how it will work. Entering from UK to EU and reverse may be similar to us Canadians entering the EU. We are cleared at our first point of entry where the passport is entered along with reason for entry is cleared we are free to move around inside the EU countries. But if you travel to Switzerland from EU then you need to clear a passport check point and change currency. That seems an easy transition but trade is a whole other issue. And in question are EU workers in UKd UK workers in EU. They did not require work permits just valid EU documentation. now what?
This is such a simplistic view of a very basic part of the huge change. The truth is that so much legal stuff has to happen to shuffle all that was once in place for trade and commerce it will be costly as fees are always part of the legal process. I wonder why people worry about Harry and Meghan expenses when there are much higher liabilities yet to come. Can the tax system bear it?
Good luck. Knowing there is opposition from Scotland and a divided Ireland I cannot begin to imagine how it will all work out for all.
I Have family in UK as well  as EU and Switzerland. i was in London Area in June 2016 the day the Brexit vote was a yes. And it was a time when my first grandchild was born. She has UK passport and a Canadian one. Both parents do too.

This post is not showing up in feeds. Why?
