On a recent walk I discovered this wasp home. I was intrigued by their lack of interest in my presence. They were too busy with their home construction. Unfortunately I have no idea what type of wasp I have captured. Not enough of their body is visible. Perhaps one of you will be able to figure it out? What do you think Kleinste Motte?
The personification of a tiny smallest moth (Kleinste Motte) was created for this blog as the thread that weaves events together. I love to read, write and dream about a world that is a better place for all.

It looks exactly like one that I swatted this morning in my sunroom...he is in sunroom no longer. don't get too close.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what they are called but I stay away from them, I've been stung enough by them. Its amazing though to see their construction site!
ReplyDeleteI too am enchanted with the construction of their homes. I had one in a tree at the end of my driveway last year.
ReplyDeleteThey are really busy, aren't they???? I am intrigued --when looking at pictures, but don't like to get too close.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
I can't believe you DID get that close!
ReplyDeleteI think they are what we in the south call yellow jackets. hubby found one yesterday in our bushes and it gave him a nice big sting on his leg. applied amonia and the sting went away. just in case oneof these gets to close to you
ReplyDeleteWow, your camera skills are excellent here. And just far enough away for me, hahaha. And thanks so much for your insightful comments, you rock.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping the REbel had a good zoom lens.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot. You are keeping us intrigued.
I can't help you identify the wasp species, but I am impressed with your photo. The wasps are definitely busy.
ReplyDeleteFascinating picture!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what kind of wasp but I had one just like it join me for dinner on the patio last night. Such a pest he was. My friend from Ghana did not want to kill it so we kept swatting it away from the food.
