Rainy Sunday

Mr.K laughs at the words, " Put 'em up, put 'em up!... Lions and tigers and bears. Oh my...." Ha ha ha...  What fun! The CBC is showing the Wizard of Oz (1939). Buddy is enjoying it too. As long as he's been able to watch movies he's admired this one. An annual classic! And he remains an admirer. And I watch with them, admiring them! What a loveable way to spend a rainy Sunday evening together, the last one this June. Thunder claps. It pours. We share some food and drink, thankful for our time together. "There's no place like home", right  Kleinste Motte?

  1. I liked this movie the first time I saw it and my kids, three are past fifty, all enjoyed it as well. I think it is one of those things, like Gone with the Wind, that will be favorites around the world.

  2. A timeless movie that most people count among their favorites. I was always so afraid of the Wicked Witch...I thought she was hiding in my closet. Further, I wanted a pair of those ruby slippers..I still fancy them to this day. It sounds like you had a lovely evening.

  3. During our recent storm, as the skies grew dark, my daughter said to me, maybe we should put on our ruby slippers just in case we don't wake up in Kansas when this is over.

I remember watching it for the first time as a girl. My grandmother had a color television and we only had black and white. She lived across the street from us, and so she had my sister and I come in and watch it at her house.

We had ice cream too, which was a special special treat. It was strawberry!

    I will never forget it.

  5. A wonderful way to spend a rainy day indeed. I have always loved that movie and rarely missed it when it would come on yearly. I even watched it in the hospital the day my first child was born!

  7. It's a great film, I remember being a bit frightened by it as a little kid. Later I grew to appreciate it as a classic film.

  8. Nice post and I like the way you say you watch the movie with him and enjoy it too. I hope you are having a nice weekend. I want to tell you that I appreciate your comments on my blog. I especially like that you speak freely and say what you really feel. I try to do that too on all the blogs I comment on, not all the time do I agree with what someone says and I like that we can put our own ideas out there. Like you did, and you gave me a new perspective and I appreciate it.

  11. I can't even begin to count all of the times my husband has watched that movie in these later years. I don't think he ever misses it. Of course, we all enjoyed that movie when the children were young. Good memories. Gerry
