CHANGES

I sit by a window in the family room to get the maximum light that is available at this time of year. I have my macbook beside me but I'm finding myself too distracted to write anything. This sad event occurs every November. Perhaps it's related to the loss of daylight? Now that the month is past the half way point I hope I shall be improving quickly. Since the holiday spirit, mixed in with the upcoming fun family times, is approaching it'll help me a lot. By December 21 the daylight will in crease and I'll be fine again. I know because it's an annual event. I've experienced many over time.
Smiling into the camera while taking this shot has helped to put some humour back so I took a moment to let you know how it's going for me. My next Tina post is in the works.

  1. I've heard they have special lights for people like you that need so many hours of daylight a day. I don't have that problem, but I do get a little discouraged some days, when the sun hasn't been out all day, and by 5pm it's almost dark. Makes it seem like an awfully long evening and night. I woke up at 3:15 this morning and thought it was time to get up, fell back to sleep and finally got up around 5:30. No wonder I've been yawning all afternoon. LOL When I go to my daughter at supper time to feed her cats and clean their litter boxes, I'll probably fall asleep while watching a little TV with them. They will be on vacation until Nov. 28th, when they are expected home. So i check on them twice a day and stay a while in the evening to keep them company. She has three smaller cats in the house and three larger ones outside. They've all been spayed and neutered. Have a great week-end.

  2. That's a nice picture, and a lovely embroidered design on your top. I don't suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, but apparently you do. There are full spectrum lights to help, as well as activities to get your blood flowing. Do you have a center nearby that offers table tennis or even card games? That certainly helps some people. Good luck and I'll be thinking of you.

  4. Oh, I hear you loud and clear. I hate this time of year too. Too dark. And even though it's cold in December, I look forward to the 21st when the days start getting longer.

Love that sweater! Nice pic. Let's dream of sunshine and blue skies.

  5. Season changes and time changes really effect most of us ---all in different ways. I hate it when the time changes... It seems to take my body weeks to adjust... Now--it's dark here at 5 p.m. Hate it!!!!!

Take Care... Love the photo of you.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  6. I agree. At least we've had quite a bit of sun this Fall, so we can be thankful for that.
Unlike you, I don't look forward to Christmas too much. Ever since my father passed away 2 years ago, I just don't feel the same way about it. Maybe that will return one day, but this year I just want it to be over. Especially since we are living in an apartment that doesn't really feel like home.
Read a good book that you can get absorbed in or watch something funny on t.v. (if you like to).

I hope it passes for you soon.

    All the best,

    Kat

  7. It is interesting how the time of year affects people. Now to me, November is the best month. The horrid humidity has disappeared and I can actually walk outside without sweating. And most important -- allergy season is over.

So I celebrated November by messing up my back and being bedridden for three days last weekend. It seems I can't have everything.

Now I suspect that this may be a quite rejuvenation time for you. Your body knows that the holidays are coming, so it is garnering its strength!

  8. It's the time change, loss of daylight, the weather change, oh, let me rephrase that, the COLD setting in. Seasonal changes are great eye candy, after our circadian rhythms adjust :}

  9. The light will come again and when it does, the experience of all these long winter dark days will make it all that better.

  10. If the sadness is related to the light, there are OTT lights and other special lights to help you as they mimic the sun's natural light. I hope you can try one.
