SPRING2021

This morning it arrived quietly as earth lined up in distance of equator to sun. And it will happen annually. Now we will warm up and days will continue to be longer in my area.

Each year it is different but each year in the northern hemisphere plants wake up as does all sorts of life. We humans feel an urge to enjoy new growth. Many set out to plant gardens and tend to those already created.

But this spring is different. The corona virus from last year has become worse and is forcing us to alter many ways of daily living into small contained spaces to avoid getting the mutated deadlier version of Covid 19 variant. We had hopes of it passing but now another wave, a third, has come. And more variants are cropping up.

Spring seems less exciting with the Covid all around the earth. We are getting vaccinated but it does not prevent the virus from affecting anyone. It just lowers risk of severe illness. So how do we get it to be gone? This is the second spring with Covid. Will it be our last?

That question has a double meaning.Enjoy you outdoor gardens but stay safe. Enjoy festive days but remain in your small bubble. Be hopeful.

Buddy and I are getting jabs on Friday. Hubby has had one. We are in the Pfizer

Green Cycle

There's no rain in the forecast but there are a few a few fluffy clouds dotted here and there. Yesterday my buddy and I went to Canadian Tire to buy a new DVD player. As we strolled towards the cash we walked past the huge display of bikes. We were attracted to them. So many varieties. Several shoppers were evaluating them. The attendant saw us eyeing one and was quick to offer his assistance. He pulled a bike from rack at our request and left. He went to help another customer. Smart! A shiny green cycle was is our clutches. Buddy sat on it. I sized him up on it. A perfect fit. Yup, I was hooked. I knew that we would be adding it to our purchase. It was assembled and ready to go. Only one final adjustment correcting the tire pressure was needed and done by our sales attendant. We needed a pump and a helmet. It didn't take us long to pick one that fit well and looked nice. We chose a white colour. As we payed we learned  about a "no tax sales promotion" on bikes. Lucky us! We walked our new green cycle to the SUV, packed it in and headed to Swiss Chalet. We ordered take out and headed home. Our green cycle was transferred from the SUV to the front hall to be admired as we ate, talked and laughed. Buddy said it was a great celebration. At bedtime Green Cycle was moved to the garage.
Today we're going to launch Green Cycle on it's inaugural run. We'll take a movie of this event and view it on the DVD player that led us to our shiny green cycle.

March Showers

Spring is here. We have turned the clocks ahead for more daylight in the evening. The snow has vanished from our lawns. It melted quickly during last week's super balmy spring break days . Now we're anticipating the colourful plants that will bloom momentarily in the warmth of the sun. There is rain today and it is cooler but everything knows that it is spring. Creatures that were hiding from the cold are now very active everywhere, especially by the pond. Bikes and skateboards have made their comeback. More folks have come out to stroll in the fresh air. It feels so good Kleinste Motte.
